Representation That Matters: From Awareness to Action in Learning

In today's dynamic learning landscape, representation matters more than ever. This session will explore the critical aspects of disability and diversity representation in learning, moving beyond surface-level discussions to practical applications. We'll discuss where to uncover truly representative assets for your e-learning content, helping you move past generic imagery to find authentic visuals.

We'll also tackle a timely and crucial topic: the problems and pitfalls of using AI for diversity representation. As AI tools become more prevalent, understanding their limitations and biases is essential for creating genuinely inclusive learning experiences. Join us to gain the knowledge and strategies you need to build more inclusive and impactful learning environments.

Presenter Information

Jeff Miller is a Senior Talent Development Specialist with more than 25 years of experience across the private sector, government, and the military. Over the years, he has worked as a remote freelancer and project lead, a curriculum manager and administrator in the military, a technical writer and course developer for a consulting firm, and a training developer and compliance officer supporting U.S. government contracts.

Jeff earned his BS in Corporate/Adult Education and Training from Southern Illinois University in 2009, followed by his MS in 2012. In 2019, he achieved the industry’s highest credential — becoming a Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD).

As the owner of Trident eLearning Center & Services, Jeff specializes in developing and delivering technical and hard-skills training, focusing on system construction, operation, and performance improvement. His approach is simple: he designs sustainable performance solutions that address the root cause — not just training for training’s sake.

When Jeff is not designing eLearning or strategizing performance solutions, you’ll probably find him in the kitchen baking something new or outside working his smoker to perfection with ribs, whole chickens, or tri-tips. He's also the proud (and often outnumbered) dad of three pugs — Dixie, Everclear, and Fireball — who tend to steal the spotlight in both life and the occasional project.
