Managing Learning Programs Panelists

Maria Chilcote has had a passion for adult learning for 30 years! Her special interest areas include performance consulting, marketing of training, facilitation and instructional design. As Managing Partner and Master Senior Instructor for The Training Clinic, Maria brings expertise from a variety of both private and public industries including: WESTAT, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, SAIC, FEMA, International Finance Corporation (IFC), FBI, DOE, National Association of Music Merchants, The Limited Stores, Dell Computers, Johns Hopkins University, Old Navy Stores, USPTO, Costco, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, BorgWarner, and Long Island Savings Banks.

She has a BS and postgraduate work from Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA. Maria also has certifications from the following: The Training Clinic, PulsePoint®, Zig Ziglar, and various MOHR Development programs.

Maria has had extensive training in effective presentation techniques, facilitation skills, instructional design, management development, performance consulting, performance management, and strategic planning. In her last in-house corporate job, Maria held the position of Assistant Vice President of Training and Communication for a six billion-dollar retailer where she was an invaluable player in effectively implementing a cultural change.

Maria has worked as a Master Instructor with The Training Clinic for over sixteen years. She is a very engaging trainer in the classroom, modeling the skills she teaches and blending examples from her breadth of corporate experience with just the right amount of humor!

Maria is a recipient of the Los Angeles YWCA Women Business Leaders of the Year Award. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University where she completed post-graduate work in the area of organizational communication. Maria has also served as an adjunct professor for George Mason University where she taught courses in interpersonal and business communication.

Timothy D. Howell is Director of Human Resources for the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). His goal as a HR professional is creating a strategic alignment of the right people performing the right role at the right time to help achieve ultimate organizational success. His team has the daily HR responsibility for a 550-person workforce that supports 900 acres of green space (100+ recreational and aquatics facilities) in the District of Columbia. Each summer, DPR hires an additional 600 summer employees to staff their 100+ camps. This highly mobile and diverse workforce is committed to providing recreation and leisure services to the more than 648,000 District residents and visitors.

Determination and unfaltering commitment to success has landed Timothy D. Howell many leadership roles working directly with senior leaders at various Fortune 100 companies. He has consulted with and coached many corporate leaders and executives in managing change, cultural diversity, conflict resolution, and implementing effective customer service initiatives. He is skilled in analyzing and interpreting organizational structures, developing strategic direction, and creating processes that add value, focus on efficiency, as well as meet company objectives.

With an 18-year successful track record in public speaking and training engagements, Timothy’s ability to captivate his audience has allowed him to build a successful career spanning across many industries, including Social Services, Insurance, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Consumer Products and Retail. He is a sought after speaker, trainer, mentor and coach that pride himself in this philosophy, ‘Leave a legacy then breadcrumbs are unnecessary’.

Angela L. Kegler, PhD, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the Chief Learning Officer of The Kegler Group – a global training and development company headquartered in South Carolina. Since 2004, Angela has provided training to organizations of all sizes around the world. She had provided training in 16 countries and almost every state in the United States. Her expertise in organizational development and ability to turn leadership theory into practical application makes her a highly sought after trainer and consultant.

Angela is part of the Duquesne University alumni where she earned her Master’s Degree in Business Ethics with a concentration in Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. In 2011, Angela earned her PhD in Organizational Management and Leadership from Capella University. Angela also holds a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance certification, is a Channel Partner with Ken Blanchard Companies, is certified to provide assessments including Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Everything DiSC Workplace, holds a certification in Lominger Architect Competencies, and is a ICF-Certified Team and Executive Coach.

Angela’s expertise is in the areas of leadership, management, organizational development, human resources, and corporate university program development. Through her customized programs and personally written training content, The Kegler Group has helped organizations such as the USO, Blue Cross Blue Shield, City of Myrtle Beach, American Cancer Society, the United States Army, American Management Association, Coastal Carolina University, Burroughs and Chapin Companies, Metglas, Avcraft, Goldfinch Funeral Homes and several other organizations become high performance workplaces.

Her professional accomplishments have earned her multiple professional honors and awards. In June 2014, Angela was awarded the USO President’s Award for her successful development of the first ever “Leadership Boot Camp” - an intense leadership development program for the USO’s global leaders. In August 2013, Angela’s work was published as a training and development industry best practice in the Industry Magazine T+D. She authored a case study that was featured online by the Association for Talent Development in May 2013. Also In May 2013, Angela received the Innovation Award for “Effective e-learning in an Emerging Business” from industry leader, Skillsoft. In addition to the USO President’s Award, Angela received two additional prestigious awards from the USO during 2013 and 2012. In June 2010, Coastal Business Life chose Angela as one of the six “Next Generation of Powerful Women” along the Grand Strand. In April 2009, she was featured in SC Woman Magazine as the “Business Woman to Get to Know.” And, she was selected as the American Business Women’s Association 2008 Coastal POWER Network’s Business Woman of the Year.
