As recently stated in the Wall Street Journal, “Customers, employees, shareholders and other stakeholders expect companies to be good corporate citizens. They want to work for and do business with companies that have a positive impact on the world and take their social responsibilities seriously.” (http://blogs.wsj.com/experts/2014/10/24/companies-have-no-choice-but-to-be-good-corporate-citiizens/?KEYWORDS=corporate+social+responsibility).

So, how can leaders build social responsibility into their organization’s strategy? How does corporate social responsibility benefit both the organization and the community? What does it mean to be socially responsible as a government leader? As we enter the season of giving, we’ll be contemplating these questions at December’s Leadership Development CoP meeting.

We will hear from leaders at local businesses about their current initiatives to give back to their communities. And we’d like to hear from you. Come prepared to share your organization’s corporate social responsibility strategies. Bring clients, friends, colleagues who participate in CSR initiatives or a charity partner who can attest to the difference your organization has made. And contribute socks, snacks, and personal care products to our Operation Gratitude care package for military personnel who will be overseas during the holidays. Please see our Web site (http://www.dcastd.org/Leadership) for more information on CSR and a wish list for the Operation Gratitude care package.

Cost: The event is free.

Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, and you can purchase meals and alcoholic beverages.
