There is much talk these days about the value of gamification in training and development. But what, precisely, distinguishes a games-based learning experience from any other type of training? And how do you begin to wrap your head around the differences between different types of games?

This webinar session will provide a foundational understanding of the subject in order to support participants in applying gamification in training environments. In this session, we will introduce and discuss selected game genres, analyze some examples, and talk about each genre's potential learning applications. By the end of the presentation you should be able to do the following:

  • define a game as a unique type of learning experience.
  • identify selected game genres.
  • differentiate game genres according to design characteristics.
  • articulate some potential training applications of various game genres.
