In his book,
The Speed of Trust, Stephen M R Covey emphasizes that trust is a critical leadership competency for the new global economy and that organizations can leverage trust to get things done more quickly, save money, and be more successful. In this session, you’ll be introduced to Covey’s Speed of Trust concept and its key principles. You’ll learn how Speed of Trust training is being used to develop leaders at DoD. And you’ll get to try out some activities that will give you a whole new perspective on the power of trust.
Julie Spyres is a Senior Training & Organization Development Consultant for Washington Headquarters Services at the Department of Defense. She is responsible for planning, designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive learning and leadership development programs. She is an ICF-credentialed executive coach for supervisors, managers, and senior executives across the enterprise. And she serves as an internal consultant, providing OD solutions to achieve organizational effectiveness.
Prior to this, Julie was the Deputy Chief Learning Officer for the Department of Defense (Title 5). She was responsible for creating and managing a comprehensive program for the development of highly skilled civilian leaders. She led the Division in the design, development, management and evaluation of leader development policies, programs, and tools with DoD-wide impact.
Ms. Spyres is certified to teach a number of Franklin Covey workshops, Crucial Conversations, and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
She earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Indiana University. She also holds graduate certificates from Marymount University in instructional design and organization development.
Julienne Stathis has been working with FranklinCovey since 1996. As a senior client partner, she serves the Department of Defense, with a particular focus on the Army, as well as the Intelligence Community, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Social Security Administration and the US Postal Service. Her passion is helping leaders and individual contributors succeed in their ever changing, ever challenging environment through personal and professional leadership development.
As a lifelong military family member, having endured twenty-four moves and numerous deployments and separations, she understands the challenges facing today’s military. For the past ten years, while our nation has been at war, Julienne has focused intensely on helping soldiers and military family members build stronger relationships, based on trust, respect and shared values at home and on duty. She has built a network of thousands of certified facilitators who in turn share FranklinCovey’s principle based, inside out approach for personal responsibility and leadership from the commander’s suite to the front line.
Prior to her role as a Senior Client Partner, Julienne was the Regional Sales Manager for FranklinCovey Government Products. This role leveraged her decade of retail experience as an executive with the Macy’s Corporation. She has also worked as a Recruiter for the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
She has Bachelor degrees in French and Economics from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. She enjoys traveling, skiing and junking—especially in Europe. She currently resides just outside of Washington, DC in Springfield, VA with her retired Army husband and two daughters.
