Employee Learning Week is an awareness campaign highlighting the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results. This year the event takes place from December 7-11. To help you take time out of your busy schedule to focus on your development during Employee Learning week, Metro DC ATD is hosting a Learning Challenge.  The Learning Challenge allows you to complete professional development opportunities and earn learning bucks that can be redeemed for great prizes!

Deadra Welcome is a creative and highly-motivated learning and development professional with a successful 24-year Federal government career. Currently, she is the Chief, Survey Training Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau. In that capacity, she manages the Branch that provides job-essential training for field and headquarters employees.  Previously, she worked at the U.S. Department of Energy and Federal Aviation Administration in various capacities including: learning strategist, business partner, program manager, performance consultant, facilitator, and instructional designer.  Deadra utilizes her skills to implement and execute innovative approaches to achieve business results.  She is a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) and Certified Performance Consultant.

Deadra volunteers her time to support the Metro DC ATD Chapter in various capacities.  She currently serves on the Advisory Board and is the incoming VP of Learning.  In the past, Deadra has served as the Director of Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Director of Professional Development, and Mentoring Partnership Program Manager.

In 2011, Deadra wrote the Using Passion to Become a True Business Partner for the July 2011 edition of the ATD’s T+D Magazine.  She has been a guest presenter for Bowie State University, ISPI-Potomac Chapter, and NFBPA, CBODN Government SIG, and Next Generation of Government Training Summit as well as a guest blogger for the ASTD Government Community of Practice.  In addition, Deadra was selected as a Featured Blogger for GovLoop, Field Editor for ATD Links electronic newsletter, and ATD Volunteer Coordinator for the ATD Leaders Conference (ALC) for 2013 and 2014 as well as a member of the ALC Program Advisory Committee.  She continues to provide consultative services for not-for-profit organizations and small businesses to improve organizational performance.
