Are you looking to develop professionally, make a career change, or find a new position? Metro DC ATD’s Career Connections Webinars can help you connect virtually to share ideas, tips, and support. Each session also focuses on specific career development topic. Our topic for December is “Negotiating Your Next Job Offer” with guest speaker is Alan De Back.

Many job seekers don’t understand that they can negotiate their next offer. Not only is salary often negotiable, but a whole other range of benefits and flexible arrangements may also be open to negotiation. By participating in this webinar, you will learn both what you may be able to negotiate and how to handle the negotiation process.

Alan De Back is an experienced learning and communications specialist with over 20 years of experience in corporate, academic, medical, and government environments. As both a career counselor and a trainer Alan has worked with diverse clients in the corporate, government, medical, and non-profit sectors.

The focus of Alan’s consulting practice is on the areas of career development, communication skills, and management and leadership development. His career development experience has included career services at a university, career transition services in a local government/community environment, and extensive career counseling in several Federal agencies.

Alan possesses a liberal arts undergraduate degree from the State University of New York College at Geneseo, a master’s degree in human resource development from Rochester Institute of Technology, and a graduate certificate in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University. He is also a qualified user of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Alan’s professional activities include the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Alan served on the Board of Directors of the Metro DC ATD Chapter, and also served the Chapter as Director of Career Services. Alan is also a published author, with publications including Get Hired in a Tough Market (McGraw-Hill, 2009) and Marketing Your Career Brand (ASTD Press, 2014).
