What is it that instructional designers do? Is it design in the true sense of the word or is it a science? In this webinar, we will explore the field of instructional design, including the importance of critical judgments in making design-based decisions and why instructional design models and theories may not be the best way of thinking about the work of instructional designers.

Elizabeth Boling is an Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Professor of Education in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University Bloomington. Professor Boling teaches and conducts research on the use of images in instructional materials, interactive multimedia and instructional design as a design endeavor, She has written and co-written extensively on the field of instructional design. She recently co-wrote an article for Performance Improvement Quarterly titled "Judgment and instructional design: How ID practitioners work in practice.
