In this session, you’ll have the opportunity to practice human-centered-design approaches to assist DoD’s Chief Learning Officer in developing her vision of a Center for Talent Development. Dr. Vicki Brown, CLO Title 5 Civilian Workforce, has been working with learning leaders throughout the DoD to establish a vision, mission, and gameplan for developing a technology-enabled “one-stop shop” for policy, resources, guidance, and collaboration related to talent development. Dr. Brown will provide a brief overview of her vision and supporting research into CTD best practices. Then based on this Inspiration, we’ll work in small groups to ideate solutions and build quick protoypes. You’ll walk away with cutting edge ideas about managing talent today, as well as hands-on experience with human-centered-design approaches.

Dr. Vicki A. Brown is currently serving as the Acting Executive Director responsible for polices and program development affecting over 900,000 Department of Defense civilian employees.  She is responsible for myriad of human capital programs: civilian service executive management; learning and development; strategic human capital planning, human capital program assessment and accountability; and enterprise recruiting and outreach.  She provides leadership, guidance, and direction to a subordinate staff of division chiefs and 85 team members to include Program Managers, Human Resource Specialists, Organizational  and Industrial Psychologists, Instructional Design Specialists, and Management Analysts.

Dr. Brown also serves as the Department’s Chief Learning Officer for the Title 5 Civilian workforce.  She is responsible for developing highly competent civilian leaders needed to successfully achieve the Department’s complex national security mission.  She manages a diverse portfolio that includes the oversight of DOD's managerial and supervisory training, the DoD Mentoring Portal, leadership development programs, research, policies, and program evaluation.

Light refreshments will be served.
