Do training evaluation concepts sometimes seem baffling and make you feel like you cannot get your arms around them?  Or, is your fix for every evaluation project a good survey?  The reality probably lies somewhere in between.  Dr. Jone Papinchock believes training evaluation can be understood best as research that follows the scientific method.  Stated simply, we develop hypotheses about the outcomes of training and then seek data that will either support or refute the hypotheses.

Dr. Jone Papinchock has more than 25 years of experience in designing measurement research, creating management tools and using advanced statistical analysis for evaluation. Her role the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Corporate University is to advance the rigor of evaluation courses and programs. She has served in city and state government, the private sector, and international consulting positions on research design and analysis applied to human resource practices. She devoted over 10 years of work as an expert in employment discrimination litigation, an area of specialization that equipped her with strong study design and methodological skills. Jone received her doctorate in industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of South Florida.

During her presentation, Dr. Papinchock will show how she links research methods to training evaluation and explain why this perspective can be so effective.  She will share some of the evaluation research approaches that she has used that you might find useful.  Further, she will share the pros and cons of different measurement approaches, including surveys, and talk about the strengths and weaknesses, not least of which is consideration of the feasibility of the study.  We will do some hands-on activities for you to learn to evaluate the evaluation.

Please note: Programs begin at 6:00 with informal networking and refreshments until around 6:20 when the evening's formal program begins. Programs end at 8:00.

Light refreshments and bottled water will be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring light meals with them, such as sandwiches or salads. There are several establishments within a few blocks of the Founders Hall venue that offer such fare.

If you register and are no longer able to attend, please send an email to cop_instructional_design@dcatd.org.
