For March, the Leadership Development CoP turns our attention to one of our 2018 top 10 leadership trends: change management. Specifically, we'll focus on strategies to develop a change management competency within your organizations.

Seventy five percent of HR leaders report that change takes up more of their time than it did three years ago and that companies anticipate more change in the future than in the past (CEB). So, what is talent development's role in change? As your company looks to you for guidance and resources to hire, train and support people through change, what's your best strategy? Join Dana Theus of InPower Coaching in a conversation with Senior Director, Talent Management at K12, Laurie Erdman to discuss these issues. Laurie will share her experiences of creating a change management competency within K12 and the results. Some takeaways you'll receive from the session:

  • Insight into key trends in change management that relate to talent development
  • How demonstrating leadership in change management can address both strategic and tactical needs in the organization
  • Personal growth opportunities to make you effective in helping others through change

Info about the venue:

If you’ve been to C2 before, we’re actually in the other building—1919, which is perpendicular to 1921. We’ll be in a training center on the ground floor.

Although the address is Gallows Rd., the entrance to the building is on Boone Blvd. If you've just turned off of Rt. 7 onto Gallows Rd, with Olive Garden on your right, take the next left onto Boone Blvd., then turn right into the first driveway. 1919 is the building to the left. Parking is over to the right, and it is free.

After you enter the building, go to the left to find the training center. We’ll have signs to guide you.

The building locks sometime after 6 p.m., so if you are not able to get in, call or text Claudia at 703.217.3517.

Closest Metro Stop: Tysons Corner (Silver Line): You can walk through Tysons Corner mall to Route 7, cross the street, and walk to 1921 Gallows Rd (which is actually on Boone Blvd). Probably about a half-mile walk.

In addition, there’s a shuttle bus that leaves the McLean Metro at approximately 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. and arrives at Tysons International Plaza (1921 Gallows Rd) about 20 minutes later. We can coordinate rides back to the Metro after the meeting.
