Using Appreciative Inquiry: The Power of Asking Different Questions to Achieve Amazing Results
In this session we will walk through the Appreciative Inquiry model and you will discover that it is more than a methodology; it is a philosophy. Developed by Dr. David Cooperrider from Case Western Reserve University, it can be viewed as the “operating system” for many different applications such as organization development, interactive strategic change, and coaching. The key is in posing solution-finding questions that explicitly value the best of what is and seeks to imagine what might be.
Experience reframing situations to see them differently and create new solutions that might not have been apparent. Join us for experiential learning and a lively discussion. You will leave with some tips, techniques, a bibliography, and hand-out.
Presenter: Deborah Maher
Deborah Maher is a seasoned professional who has worked with individuals and organizations in the public and private sectors for over 25 years. Her early collaborative work in public-private partnerships included coordinating the development of Camden Yards Baseball Stadium for the City of Baltimore. She created the Interactive Strategic Change (ISC) model which uses a range of best practices to benefit all levels of an organization leading to overall alignment and clear direction for the future. Her work is informed by Appreciative Inquiry, a methodology and framework that seeks to discover the strengths in people and organizations and to build on them to create a new future.
Deborah received an MBA from Loyola College, a Masters in Public Administration from San Diego State University, and certification in Appreciative Inquiry from Case Western Reserve University.
