Eighty (80!) percent of the American workforce want remote work to continue after the pandemic is past. Think about that for a moment.

We are not going back to normal. That normal no longer exists. Our new normal is evolving as we realize we need to skill up our leaders and workers on how to thrive working remotely, not just survive as many of us have been doing over the past eight months, but be engaged, productive, happy, connected workers.

What does this mean to learning professionals? It has certainly meant a change in how we deliver our programs, but it also means that we need to think about what skills are needed to be successful remote team leaders and remote team employees.

What new skills and capabilities are needed? What existing skills and capabilities need to be stressed?

Join us on December 1, 2020 at 6:00 as Dr. Deborah Smith Cook leads us through a series of experiential activities to build our understanding of what skills and capabilities are needed. We will also hear from a local Chief Learning Officer on what her organization has done with leadership development and their remote workforce.

Deborah has spent much of her career leading remote teams and as a remote worker in organizations such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Caliber Learning Network, and the University of Baltimore. As a Dean, Associate Professor, and Visiting Lecturer, she has taught strategic management and marketing at George Washington University, Texas A&M University, and Indiana University. In 2017, Deborah founded Atheseus, a management consulting company helping remote teams become more engaged, collaborative, and accomplished. Deborah’s clients have included government agencies, non-profits, and private sector ranging from start-up tech companies to Fortune 500 companies. Deborah is a Certified Facilitator in Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team and Everything DiSC as well as PROSCI Change Management. Deborah earned a doctoral degree from Indiana University in Strategic Management and Organizational Behavior and an MBA from Michigan State University with concentrations in finance and marketing. Deborah was a Fulbright Scholar to INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
