This event aligns with the Personal and Organizational Application of ATD's Talent Development Capability Model.

If you dream of having an exciting and “profitable” career in ISD, Media Development, Graphic Arts, Training Management, Learning Strategy, and related work, you must learn how to integrate the “traditional role” of an instructional designer or other “creative specialist” into a complementary, but new, job of solving performance problems. You’ll have to be skilled not only in hardware, software, and creative techniques, but be able to build and run organizations guided by Contracts and Statements of Work.

Through discussion and application of interactive and iterative business development processes, this presentation blends the use of organizational development; best business principles and practices; and industry trends in designing, delivering, and evaluating classroom, Internet, blended learning, and self-directed learning.

Objectives:

  • Discuss business fundamentals necessary for the Instructional Designer/Training Manager to collaborate, create, and execute a Statement of Work and Contract.
  • Describe the organizational governance and staffing necessary to manage a training initiative from inception to completion.
  • Determine tools and knowledge to manage program scope, scheduling, cost (basis of estimate) size, and duration.

Presenter:  Dr. Stuart Weinstein

Dr. Weinstein has 41 years of professional experience designing, developing, and delivering instructional products for dissemination via the Internet, computer, satellite, videotape, videodisc, radio, broadcast television, CD-ROM and classroom for military, civilian government, higher education, and commercial clients. Additionally, he provides business process re-engineering; strategic and tactical communications planning; proposal development; capture management; and change management services to commercial, federal civilian, higher education and military clients.
