Today, the need for effective leadership has never been greater. Yet, it is widely agreed that current leadership development approaches fall short of preparing leaders to succeed in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment. In this highly interactive and playful session, participants will experience the power of serious gaming for transforming leadership potential into performance. They will play a variety of games to explore how serious games develop higher-level cognitive skills, as well as flexibility, resilience, and creativity. They will analyze examples to discover the elements of effective games. They will find out what current research says about gaming and leadership development. In addition, they will review games used in the Defense Senior Leader Development Program, and extrapolate best practices for designing and developing effective games.
