Coaching SIG: Successfully Connecting with Others - for Relationships and Business!

  • 04 Mar 2014
  • 6:40 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Location: Bethesda Regional Library, 7400 Arlington Rd. Bethesda, MD 20814.

The Coaching CoP is Sponsored by the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) & Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network (CBODN)

Topic: Mindful Movement for Presence and Grounding

As coaches we know that the connection between body and mind unifies us. Many of us promote the use of mindfulness and grounding in our coaching and also use this approach in maintaining our own self-care. Bring your curiosity and join us on March 4th for an evening of “moving” and experiencing the awareness and focus of our bodies. Through a mixture of varied physical movement we’ll learn new ways to improve focus, relieve stress, and engage with ourselves and others. After an easy warm-up we will follow the lead of our instructor, Lee Ordeman, who provided a fascinating program on Shintaido last year that yielded great reviews.

Please dress in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and be ready to enjoy movement. Socks are preferable but not a requirement.

Presenter: Lee Ordeman

Lee Ordeman is an actor, teacher, and former dancer based in Washington, D.C. who teaches meditation and Shintaido, a practical martial art with the goal of self-discovery and transformation. He has worked in association with theatres such as Washington Shakespeare Company and Arena Stage and has appeared in dozens of commercials, industrial films and
several web series. Film work includes HBO’s Game Change. He is a member of Actors’ Equity and holds an MFA in acting from the Catholic University of America. He can next be seen in the film, Better Living Through Chemistry, to be released this spring.

Who Can Attend?

You do not need to be a coach to attend our meetings or be on our mailing list. Our attendance is comprised of many coaches - some new and some seasoned. We have people attending who want to learn about the different coaching programs, some currently in coaching programs, and those who are starting or just finishing programs or certification. We also have trainers, and consultants, or others in different fields who are curious about coaching or becoming a coach, along with some who teach in coaching programs. We have members coming from a range of fields including IT, law, economics, health care, advertising, communications, banking, and international organizations. We enjoy the mix of perspectives, ages, and world experience.

Please email Peggy Linden to RSVP and determine if space is available for you.

Because registration fills up very quickly, walk-ins cannot be accommodated.  To hear about these events as soon as registration opens, contact Peggy to be put on the email distribution list.
